He had a record of 157-167 prior to the 2002 season.

He actually thanked the Rally Monkey for helping his team win the World Series (2002).

He was an integral part of a dominating Dodgers dynasty of the 1980's.
When his team was 6-14 in 2002, he managed to keep his team from falling apart to finish with the best record in Angels history at 99-63.
He refused to let his team give up in game 6 of the 2002 World Series, the team responded with a 6-5 come from behind win which ultimately led to game 7 and the World Series title.
He is the 17th person to be a member of World Series teams as both a player and a manager.
He appeared on the Simpsons.
He was on his daughter's field trip when MLB announced he was the American League Manager of the Year.(2002)
