Athlete
    (June 16, 1996- )
    Born in Indianapolis, Indiana
With David Boudia won the silver medal in 10-meter synchronized platform diving at the Rio Olympics (2016)
His name sounds like it belongs to a porn star.
He admitted that the accident he suffered when he was twelve was the result of attempting a dive that was too advanced for him.
The accident caused memory losses that he kept secret from his family and coaches for seven years.
He said the ideal gift from a girlfriend would be ‘an unlimited supply of macaroni and cheese.’
He said his worst habit is not finishing projects: ‘I get distracted and start different ones.’
At age twelve, he hit his against the platform during a dive, tearing his scalp in half.
He returned to diving just a month after the accident because ‘I was so excited that I was still alive.’
Because of the memory losses from the injury, he started video blogs to have a record of his life.
The dive he was attempting when he was injured – a reverse 3-1/2 somersault in tuck position – is now one of his signature moves: ‘Something that almost killed me has become the thing that I’m best at.’
His freshman year, he was named Purdue’s Male Athlete of the Year.
He has a close relationship with Boudia: ‘I wouldn’t trade diving with him or being friends with him for anything.’
