Why Panama City, Panama might be annoying:

It is the namesake for a Florida spring break hotspot.
It was the starting point for expeditions that conquered the Inca Empire in Peru.
It is sometimes known simply as 'Panama' which is both confusing and generalistic.
The bedrock of its local economy is sandwiched between Canal tourism and its costly transit fees (tolls vary based on the boat size).
A riot started after a Panamanian flag was torn, resulting in 22 Panamanians and four U.S. soldiers being killed (January 9, 1964).

Why Panama City, Panama might not be annoying:

It was a key trade post for the Spanish to circulate gold and silver currency in the Americas.
The original city was destroyed by a fire after privateer Henry Morgan sacked and set fire to it (January 28, 1671).
It was a central point of interest during the Thousand Days War in Panama's fight for independence from Colombia.
The city’s restored Casco Viejo historic district was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.
It has been a casualty of U.S. foreign interventionism (its historic El Chorrillo district was burned down during the 1989 Invasion to depose Noriega).
It has several monuments throughout the city memorializing the victims of the 1964 Martyrs Day riots.
The Trump Organization made its first investment in Latin America there, building the Trump Ocean Club, in 2006.
