The Resume

    (March 16, 1958- )
    Born in Mexico City, Mexico
Birth name is Jorge Ramos Ávalos
Anchor for ‘Noticiero Univision’ on Univision
Hosts the Univision Sunday-morning news show, ‘Al Punto’
Hosts 'America with Jorge Ramos' on Fusion TV
Wrote books, ‘The Latino Wave: How Hispanics Are Transforming Politics in America,’ ‘(Atravesando Fronteras),’ ‘Dying to Cross: The Worst Immigrant Tragedy in American History,’ ‘La otra cara de América,’ ‘Lo que vi’ ‘A la caza del león,’ ‘Morir en el intento,’ ‘Detrás de la máscara,’ ‘El regalo del tiempo: Cartas a mis hijos,’ ‘A Country For all: An Immigrant Manifesto,’ ‘My Life,’ ‘Los Presidenciables’
Has covered military conflicts in El Salvador, the Persian Gulf, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq

Why he might be annoying:

    He is twice divorced.
He is a pretty boy who resembles a slightly shorter twin of Charlie Crist.
He developed a reputation for haranguing President Obama over his immigration policy.
In a Spanish-language Univision interview he even switched onto English, aggressively talking over him and demanding to know why he waffled on Immigration reform in his first term.
He drew the ire of conservatives when he justified activist journalism during his acceptance speech for the Burton Benjamin Memorial Award, claiming that impartial journalists 'empower the oppressor' (Nov. 2014).
He hopped on the 'undocumented worker' bandwagon, insisting that the term 'illegal immigrant' is a racial slur.
At the same time, he promotes the fairly racist notion that all Hispanics/Latinos only vote along the lines of immigration, and not education, national security, or the economy.
Greta Van Susteren called his use of the term, 'deporter in chief' during his interview with Obama 'insulting' (Dec. 2014).
He has repeatedly whined about the President skipping Univision when doing media blitzes on major networks; characterizing it as a slight against all Hispanics (who apparently can't just watch the interviews on another network).
He tends to give the impression that the most important reason to support amnesty for illegal immigrants is the need for 'cheap labor.'
He has the tendency to smugly deal the race card in his interviews, (ex. asking Hillary Clinton if she has a 'Latino problem').

Why he might not be annoying:

He was probably the only news anchor that Newt Gingrich didn't snap at during the 2012 election, by taking 'full responsibility' for a question about his history of infidelity.
Some find it refreshing that, unlike most journalists who hide their bias and claim to be impartial, he doesn't even bother to conceal the fact that he has an axe to grind.
Conservatives generally cheer him on when he grills Obama, despite the fact that he's arguing on behalf of something they're adamantly against.
He has won eight Emmy awards for his journalism.
He founded Despierta Leyendo (Wake Up Reading) in 2002.
Pew Hispanic Center reported him to be the second most recognized Latino leader in the US.
Latino Leaders Magazine ranked him in both the 'Ten Most Admired Latinos' and '101 Top Leaders of the Latino Community in the U.S.' lists.
He holds a degree in communication at the Ibero-American University in México City.
He has a Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Miami.
At 28, he became the youngest national Spanish-language news anchors in television history.
