Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His signing bonus with the Browns was a new pair of baseball shoes.
He suffered shoulder and arm injuries that limited his playing time to just 134 games in his last three seasons with the Browns (1951-53).
His home run production picked up with the Senators partly because owner Calvin Griffith shortened the left field fence by more than 50 feet.
He has the dubious distinction of being one of the few players with 300+ home runs not to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was married to Joan Colburn for over 50 years.
Casey Stengel said his powerful but graceful swing was 'one of the sweetest' in baseball.
He was the first player to lead his league in home runs and RBIs while playing on a last place team (1957).
He was the batting double for actor Tab Hunter in the film 'Damn Yankees.' (1958)
