Why he might be annoying:

    He was forced to leave several cities after ticking off the powers that be with his arrogance.
    He declared, 'Every little hair on my neck knows more than you and all your scribes, and my shoe buckles are more learned than your Galen and Avicenna, and my beard has more experience than all your high colleges.'
    He burned medical textbooks that he disapproved of.
    His house was covered with astrological and cabalistic symbols.
    He wore expensive clothes, but refused to change until they stank.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His suffered from rickets during his childhood.
    He frequently treated the poor for free.
    He delivered babies at a time when midwifery was considered beneath a doctor's dignity.
    He wrote the first work about occupational illnesses, 'On the Miners' Sickness.'
