    In Super Bowl XXXVIII, he missed a 31-yard field goal attempt and had a 36-yard attempt blocked.
    He is the third cousin of motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel.
    He enjoys hunting and riding motorcycles.
    He kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give the Patriots a 20-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI (February 3, 2002).
    He kicked a 41-yard field goal with four seconds remaining to give the Patriots a 32-29 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII (February 1, 2004).
    In his first eight seasons in the NFL, he made more than 80% of his field-goal attempts and nearly 98% of his extra-point attempts.

    He is SDSU's all-time scoring leader with 185 points.
    He was a pre-med student while attending SDSU, majoring in health & physical education with a minor in chemistry.

    His favorite book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
    His great-great-grandfather, Felix Vinatieri, served as George Custer's band leader. Felix missed out on Little Big Horn after Custer, sensing danger, left Vinatieri and his 16-member brass band on a Powder River supply boat before succumbing to Crazy Horse.
