    He played on two different teams in a five year span, prior to landing with Oakland.
    He was deemed expendable with the Red Sox following the emergence of Wade Boggs.
    He missed the majority of the 1991 season due to injuries.
    He made a cameo as fictional Chicago White Sox slugger Kit 'Hit or Die' Kesey in 'Angels In The Outfield', which centered around his former club, the Angels.
    He was the subject of internet fan rumours that 'Breaking Bad' was based on him (which were proven to be false).

    He established himself as a mainstay in the A's lineup, following the trade from Boston.
    He often batted in the second spot of the Oakland batting order, behind Rickey Henderson.
    He was a member of the Athletics teams that played in three consecutive World Series between 1988 and 1990, earning a ring in his second appearance (1989).
    He didn't actually use chewing tobacco in his plate appearance scenes in 'Angels In The Outfield,' opting to use black licorice instead.
    He is among a select minority of baseball players who played in both the World Series and the Little League World Series.
