He was a force behind the 46664 Campaign to fight AIDS/HIV in South Africa by promoting awareness (via concert series) in of the disease in that country.
46664 was Nelson Mandela’s prison number.
Bob Dylan refers to him as a fearless innovator. He became recognized for his works outside The Eurythmics as a producer and songwriter for acts such as Shakespears Sister, Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger.
He provided soundtracks for various movies.
