    (circa October 22, 1925-February 14, 2012)
    Born in Rahway, New Jersey
Birth name was Dorothy Veronica Langan
    Married composer/conductor Andre Previn (1959-70)
Wrote songs for the films 'Pepe' (1960), 'Inside Daisy Clover' (1965), 'Valley of the Dolls' (1967) and 'The Sterile Cuckoo' (1969)
Recorded the albums 'The Leprechauns Are Upon Me' (as Dory Langdon, 1958), 'On My Way To Where' (1970), 'Mythical Kings and Iguanas' (1971), 'Reflections in a Mud Puddle' (1971), 'Mary C. Brown and the Hollywood Sign' (1972), 'Live at Carnegie Hall' (1973), 'Dory Previn' (1974), 'We're Children of Coincidence and Harpo Marx' (1976) and 'Planet Blue' (2002)
Her birth year has been given as anywhere from 1925 to 1930.
She had multiple nervous breakdowns and underwent electroshock therapy.
She wrote 'Beware of Young Girls' about her husband's affair with Mia Farrow.
Her fear of flying and unwillingness to tour limited her commercial success.
She was a natural lefty who was forced to write with her right hand.
Her father, who had been prone to violent mood swings since being gassed during WWI, boarded her and the rest of the family in their home and held them at gunpoint.
After her nervous breakdown when Andre Previn left her for Mia Farrow, her therapist encouraged her to write about her feelings, launching her singer-songwriter career.
She reconciled with Andre Previn, collaborating with him on 'The Magic Number' (1997), adding 'To continue the vitriol would negate the years of terrificness we had.'
The band Camera Obscura recorded the song 'Dory Previn' about her (2006).
