Why Kentucky might be annoying:

    The British-inspired Native American attacks during the American Revolution and almost wiped out Lexington, Louisville, Paris, Georgetown and Stanford.
    It has more colonels than any other place.
    It is the namesake and home of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
    On June 3rd, the people observe Confederate Memorial Day (1868- ).
    It was the first state to nullify an act of Congress (November 16, 1798).
    Dueling was legal until 1801 (November 10, 1801).
    Jesse James' gang robbed banks in Kentucky.
    'My Old Kentucky Home' refers to African Americans as 'Darkies.'

    The premiere horse race, The Kentucky Derby currently runs the first Saturday of every May (Since May 17, 1875).
    The TV series 'Daniel Boone,' 'Young Dan'l Boone' and 'Wonderful John Action' were set in Kentucky.
    It was the second state (after Vermont) to join the original 13 states.
    American frontiersman, Daniel Boone, built his fort there.
    Kentucky was a county of Virginia but wanted separate statehood (1776).
    Kentucky formally requested statehood in 1790 and brokered a deal to become a separate state (1792).
    Their state seal is two men greeting each other and saying 'United We Stand, Divided We Fall.'
    Although Illinois claims him, Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky.
    Col. Harland Sanders (founder of KFC) was born in Indiana.
    Singers Rosemary Clooney, Skeeter Davis, Jackie DeShannon, Naomi and Wynona Judd and Patty Loveless were born in Kentucky.
    It was the first state to appropriate money for road building (December 19, 1795).
    Kentucky abolished their debtor's prisons (December 17, 1821).
    Kentucky passed a law permitting women to attend school under certain conditions (February 16, 1838).
    Kentucky proclaimed its neutrality in the Civil War (May 1861). But, Confederate forces entered Kentucky, and it ended their neutrality (September 3, 1861).
    The University of Kentucky won 130 consecutive home basketball games (January 2, 1945-January 8, 1955).
    Blues-Rocker, Janis Joplin, started her career in Kentucky (July 12, 1970).
    The Kentucky Colonels played in the American Basketball Association. They won the ABA Championship (May 22, 1975).
    They gave eighteen year olds the right to vote (circa 1902).
    Their bourbons are world renown.
    Home of the world's longest known cave - Mammoth Cave.
