Why he might be annoying:

His emphasis on producing for the international market led to complaints he was making TV programs 'for Birmingham, Alabama, not Birmingham, England.'
He was referred to as 'Low Greed' by the satirical magazine Private Eye.
During the filming of 'Jesus of Nazareth,' he allegedly told director Franco Zeffirelli, 'Only twleve apostles? Didn't I tell you I want this thing to be big?'
His film career ended after the back to back flops 'Raise the Titanic' and 'The Legend of the Lone Ranger.'

He was married to Kathleen Moody for 55 years until his death.
