    (circa 1901-1928)
    Resided in Chicago, Illinois
Charged with killing Harry Kalstedt (April 1924)
Acquitted of the charge (May 25, 1924)
Inspiration for 'Roxie Hart' in the musical and film 'Chicago'
She began an extra-marital affair with her car salesman, Harry Kalstedt.
She shot him in her marital bedroom.
For over two hours, she drank cocktails and listened to records as Harry lay dying.
Her story changed several times, from self-defense against a rape attempt to shooting him after he threatened to leave her.
While in prison, she faked a pregnancy hoping to beat the murder allegation.
The day after her acquittal, she left her husband who stood by her during the trial. She said he was 'too slow.'
    She divorced 3 times.
Her third husband was a bigamist.
She went through life with the unfortunate name of 'Beulah.'
She was called the 'prettiest woman' on Murderess' Row.
    An all-male jury acquitted her.
She died in a mental hospital of unknown causes.
