The Resume

    (1980- )
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Post-punk/goth band
Led by vocalists and identical twins Jay and Michael Aston
Recorded the albums ‘Promise’ (1983), ‘Immigrant’ (1985), ‘Discover’ (1986), ‘The House of Dolls’ (1987), ‘Kiss of Life’ (1990), ‘VII’ (1999), ‘Exploding Girls’ (2003), ‘Dead Sexy’ (2009), and ‘Dance Underwater’ (2017)
Recorded the singles ‘Bruises’ (1983), ‘Influenza (Relapse)’ (1984), ‘Shame (Whole Heart Howl)’ (1984), ‘The Cow’ (1985), ‘Desire’ (1985), ‘The Motion of Love’ (1987), ‘Jealous’ (1990), and ‘Tangled Up In You’ (1990)

Why they might be annoying:

They were originally called ‘Slav Aryan.’
The lineup other than the Astons was constantly changing. (For example, they had gone through five drummers before recording their fourth album.)
Michael admitted about his on stage dancing, ‘I look like Isadora Duncan on LSD.’
During a reunion tour, the Astons ended up screaming at each other on stage during a show in Portland (1997).
After another fight between the brothers, Jay erased Michael’s vocals from the album ‘VII’ before releasing it.
Jay and Michael then led different versions of the band and sued each other the rights to the name.
Eventually, they reached a settlement in which Jay’s version of the band is called Gene Loves Jezebel in the UK and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel in the US, while Michael’s version is called Gene Loves Jezebel in the US and Michael Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel in the UK (2009).

Why they might not be annoying:

Their name was a reference to ‘50s rocker Gene Vincent and his song ‘Jezebel.’
’Goldmine’ wrote, ‘Their music was unique, shivering through gothesque darkness to shimmering pop.’
Michael said, ‘The only time we communicate is in rage, which is why the records worked, because we always challenged in our music.’
