Why she might be annoying:

When she joined an all-girl band in high school, her parents had to put up their furniture as collateral for her stand-up bass.
She started out at such a young age that her parents named Ferlin Husky her legal guardian so she could tour with him.
She married fellow singer Hawkshaw Hawkins on stage during a concert in Wichita.

Why she might not be annoying:

She grew up in a home without electricity or running water.
She was eight months pregnant when her husband, Hawkshaw Hawkins, died in the plane crash that also killed Patsy Cline.
She was one of two performers who were members of the Grand Ole Opry for over 60 years.
Songwriter and producer Joe Allison said, ‘If you took all the the good points of all the female singers and wrapped them up in one package, you would have Jean Shepard.’
When Blake Shelton called fans of traditional country ‘old farts and jackasses,’ she responded, ‘We’ve got a young man in country music who has made some pretty dumb statements lately…. I won’t tell you what his name is, but his initials is BS -- and he’s full of it!’
