Why she might be annoying:

She travelled everywhere in a chariot.
Her philosophical system, which was derived from Plotinus,' seems like more of a religion than philosophy.
She urged her students to connect with 'The One,' whatever that was.
When one of her students confessed his love to her, she threw some dirty clothes at him and said, 'This is me. This is what you love!'

Why she might not be annoying:

She is widely regarded as one of the greatest female philosophers who ever lived.
She was a talented astronomer as well as a mathematician.
One of her students invented the astrolabe, which helped to measure the positions of the stars.
There was a struggle going on in Alexandria during her lifetime between pagans and Christians.
Alexandria's governor, a pagan who fought with the local Christian bishop for power, counted Hypatia as one his supporters.
The Christians, who thought that her work in science and philosophy was black magic, decided to kill her as a political statement.
A mob of Christians dragged her from her chariot, murdered her with sharpened seashells and then burned her body.
She is now seen as a martyr for free thought.
A journal for women in philosophy is named after her.
