TV Series
    (February 7, 1988-October 12, 2012)
    Aired on Fox
    Hosted by John Walsh
Premise: Shows re-enactments of crimes and asks viewers to call with information on the whereabouts of the criminals responsible
Fox was so uncertain of its success that they aired the pilot on only the seven stations they directly owned.
Walsh admits he cringes when he thinks about how graphic the early reenactments were.
Frequently, actors from the show have accidentally been turned in to the police.
Although the pilot aired in only seven cities, featured fugitive David James Roberts was captured after only four days.
Through mid-August, 2007, 956 fugitives had been captured and 53 missing persons recovered alive as a direct result of viewer tips.
At the time of its cancellation, it was Fox's longest-running series.
When Fox threatened to cancel the series, the move drew protests from hundreds of thousands of viewers, 37 governors and FBI director Louis Freeh (1996).
