Drafted second overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft
Defenseman for the Winnipeg Jets (1980-85), Hartford Whalers (1985-91), Vancouver Canucks (1991-98), Philadelphia Flyers (1998-99), Los Angeles Kings (1999) and HC Ambri-Piotta (1999-2000)

Why he might be annoying:

He sported a gigantic moustache.
He almost quit hockey to pursue a career in architecture.
He and his brother Wayne, married and divorced a set of sisters. Their first marriages made them both blood brothers and brothers-in-law.
He filed a lawsuit against the Flyers and the team doctor for malpractice which he claimed ended his career prematurely.
A counter-suit revealed that he insisted on painkillers, knowing the risk of permanent damage to his foot in order to play in the team's playoff run.
His NHL career ended on a whimper, as he played only eight games with the Kings after being traded to the team.
He had a cameo appearance in the box office dud 'Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He became the first player in NHL history to wear the number 44 on his jersey.
He played in the Stanley Cup Finals (1994).
He played his 1000th game in Vancouver with the Canucks. (February 7, 1996)
His teammates wore fake cookie dusters at the ceremony marking his 1,000th career NHL game and gifted him with a motorboat as a gesture.
His former club, the Hartford Whalers, whom the Canucks were playing against that night, attended the ceremony even though they were given the option to sit it out to show their support for him.
He was respected by his former teammates.
He made the Jets as an 18 year old.
His hard hitting style of play made him a fan favorite in Winnipeg, Hartford and Vancouver.
Prior to the Turgeons and Sedins, he and his older brother, Wayne were the highest drafted set of siblings in the history of the NHL Entry Draft.
