Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He is one of six children and his five other siblings (Veldon, Veryl, Vaughn, Varlin and Valynda) all start with a V.
    He was a journeyman player.
    He wore huge eye wear.
He had limited playing time in the 1989 season due to back problems.
He struck out three times in each at-bat in the 1989 NLCS.
The Vance Law Dog (the Chicago-style hot dog at Wrigley Field) sometimes got mistaken as 'The Vance Slaw Dog' as it included cole slaw.

Why he might not be annoying:

Like his father Vern, he played with Willie Stargell and Manny Sanguillen as teammates.
He set an AL record for inning appearances as a third baseman without an error (25) as he was playing against the Milwaukee Brewers in each inning of the AL's longest game ever recorded (May 8-9, 1984).
He was chosen along with Andre Dawson, Greg Maddux, Ryne Sandberg, Rafael Palmeiro, and Shawon Dunston as one of six Cubs players on the 1988 NL All-Star Team which was a record for the most Cubs players on the team.
He smacked a walk-off grand slam home run in a game against the Pirates (August 15, 1987).
He never gave up a home run as he was used a relief pitcher.
The Vance Law Dog is named in his honor.
