Why he might be annoying:

Twice Sonny Liston demolished him, each time getting KO'd in the first round.
He took a vicious beating from Muhammad Ali, who wouldn't knock him out because he wanted to pummel him.
Ali felt disrespected by him because he insisted on continuing to call him Cassius Clay.
He didn't win the title from Rocky Marciano because Marciano retired.
He held the belt in between two legends and is largely overlooked by historians as a great fighter.
He was accused of being protected by Cus D'Amato.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the first two-time winner of the Heavyweight Championship, after he knocked out Ingemar Johannsen to reclaim the belt.
He was the first world champion trained by Cus D'Amato.
He went against D'Amato's wishes and fought Liston anyway because he didn't want to duck anyone (this was ripped off by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky III).
He told President Kennedy, ‘The title is not worth anything if the best fighters can't have a shot at it. And Liston deserves a shot.'
He won the middleweight gold medal at 1952 Helsinki Olympics.
He was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1991.
