In the Name of Love,' 'You Can't Hurry Love,' 'You Keep Me Hangin On')
    Founded their own Invictus and Hot Wax record labels (1968)

    Eddie Holland gave up a promising performing career because of stage fright.
    They staged a work slowdown at Motown over a royalties dispute.
    They left to form their own record label amid a flurry of suits and countersuits with Motown.
    Because of the legal battle, their early songs for Hot Wax and Invictus were credited to the fictitious Edith Wayne.
    Together they wrote 13 Number One hits.
    Their songs have been covered by everyone from Linda Ronstadt to the Who, the Dixie Chicks to Motorhead.
    They wrote and produced the Four Tops hit 'It's the Same Old Song' in 24 hours from Berry Gordy's demand for a new single to the record's commercial release.
