Why he might be annoying
He resembles Michael Jordan.
The rebel group he was a part of was responsible for ambushing and killing travelers, mostly Tutsis.
As elections were approaching, an opposition leader was imprisoned for allegedly insulting him (2010).
Why he might not be annoying
His father was killed during an ethnic massacre that killed over 100,000 Burundians, leaving him an orphan (1972).
Five of his siblings were killed during the Burundian civil war.
He narrowly escaped death when the Tutsi army stormed the university campus and killed 200 students, which led him to join the CNDD-FDD.
He won a soccer match while on a state visit to Banjul, Gambia (February 22, 2009).
His friends called him a ‘religious, cool gentleman devoid of religious fundamentalism’.
He organizes prayer sessions at home and fasts every Thursday.
He sought to fight for peace, justice, and security for everyone.
