Why he might be annoying:

His nickname is 'Mucks.'
He looks like a poor man's Phil Donahue.
He is notorious for signing older veteran and unproven talent to overpriced contracts.
He failed to take an underachieving veteran Rangers team to the playoffs in his three seasons behind the bench.
He was involved in a power struggle with Ted Nolan which was a key factor in his dismissal from the Sabres.
He was fired by the Senators two weeks after guiding them to the franchise's first Stanley Cup Finals appearance (2007).
A decade after losing a power struggle in Buffalo, it is speculated that he lost another one with head coach Bryan Murray, which was a key factor in his dismissal from the Sens.

Why he might not be annoying:

He guided the Oilers to their fifth Stanley Cup championship in seven years (1990).
He has over 2,000 games under his belt as either an NHL general manager or head coach.
He served as a co-coach with Glen Sather during the Oilers back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in the late 1980's.
He re-established the farm systems in both Buffalo and Ottawa.
He was on Canada's coaching staff during both their Canada Cup victories in the 1980's.
