Why he might be annoying:

He tried to become a teacher but failed the certification exam.
He attempted to take the examination again but became very ill during the examination and buckled under test anxiety.
He spent a lot of his life as a loner, growing plants and not having very much fun.
His research into what is now known as genetics was not given any credence until years after his death.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the son of a peasant farmer.
He kept thorough and detailed records of his research into the characteristics of pea pod plants.
His observations on the traits and characteristics passed down in pea pod plants would serve as the foundation of modern genetics.
An element on the periodic table is named after him.
He is considered by many to be the father of genetics.
