Why he might be annoying:

    He suffered a separated shoulder during the final week of the 2002 season, missing the playoffs in which the Diamondbacks were swept in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals.
    Prior to joining the Diamondbacks in 1999, he hit .268 with an average of only 13 home runs and 69 RBI's per year during his first eight full seasons in the major leagues (1991-1998).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He drove in the winning run of Game 7 of the 2001 World Series with a bases-loaded single and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, causing the Diamondbacks to defeat the New York Yankees 3-2 and take the Series, 4 games to 3.
    In his first five seasons with the Diamondbacks (1999-2003), he hit .314 with an average of 34 home runs and 115 RBI's per year.
    He was the winner of the Home Run Derby at the 2001 All-Star Game at Safeco Field in Seattle.
    He hit the first-ever home run at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg (for the Tigers in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' inaugural game on March 31, 1998).
    He had a 30-game hitting streak for the Diamondbacks in 1999.
    He was a high school teammate of the Devil Rays first baseman Tino Martinez.
    He is the father of triplets (Megan, Jacob, and Alyssa, born June 26, 1998).
    He has a reputation for generosity and is considered to be the highest tipper in baseball.
    He is one of baseball's good guys and has photographic memory for names and faces.
    He loves the fans and is the most popular player on the Diamondbacks (2003).
    He is involved in a variety of community ventures and charitable activities, such as the Grand Canyon State Games, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
