The Resume

    (1964-1974)
    Born in Shreveport, Louisiana
Larry Henley (born Arp, Texas) and brothers Dean (Louis Aldine) and Marc (later Mark) Mathis (both born Hahira, Georgia)
Albums include ‘Bread & Butter’ and ‘Run Baby Run’
Singles include ‘Bread and Butter,’ ‘Everything’s Alright,’ ‘Break Away (from That Boy),’ and ‘Run Baby Run (Back into My Arms)’

Why they might be annoying:

It is one word, not two.
Henley was almost always the lead vocal — a super-high screecher sometimes mistaken for a black woman.
They broke up briefly after Henley’s first audition, recording respectively as a solo artist and duo for a label co-owned by Roy Acuff in the meantime.
Despite a solid output stretching over at least a decade, they remained known almost exclusively for the racy-for-the-time ‘Bread and Butter.’

Why they might not be annoying:

There were no other members during the entire run of the group.
They regarded The Four Seasons as their core inspiration.
They all had solid instrumental backgrounds despite initially not appearing to (including a stint with Dale Hawkins).
Henley would go on to co-author ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ (covered by numerous artists, and a #1 single for Bette Midler).
