    Appeared in 'Captive Wild Woman' (1943), 'The Falcon in Mexico' (1944), 'The Big Sleep' (1946), 'The Time, the Place and the Girl' (1946), 'That Way with Women' (1947), 'Love and Learn' (1947), 'Ruthless' (1948), 'Bad Boy' (1949), 'Alimony' (1949), 'The Big Bluff' (1955), 'The Burglar' (1957) and 'Four Fast Guns' (1960)
    An early contract with producer David O. Selznick failed to get her any movie roles.
    After the success of 'The Big Sleep' she was typecast as the 'bad girl' in film noirs.
    She filed for divorce from her first husband, studio publicist A.C. Lyles, after only six months.
    She married Mickey Rooney only six hours after his divorce from his second wife became final.
    During WWII, she was a frequent pin-up in 'Yank: The Army Weekly,' appearing on the cover three times.
    He part in 'The Big Sleep' was reportedly heavily edited because she was upstaging star Lauren Bacall.
    She died at age 46 from cancer of the esophagus.
