Why he might be annoying:

His defensive abilities as a catcher frequently came into question, as some baseball pundits felt he lacked defensive prowess.
He publicly called out Rogers Sportsnet analysts Gregg Zaun and Dirk Hayhurst when they questioned his defensive skills, rebutting by mentioning Zaun's link to the Mitchell Report and calling Hayhurst a below average player.
He recorded the lowest on base percentage for a catcher during the 2013 season.
He led the majors in passed balls (2012).

He hit a home run on his first major league pitch (August 7, 2010).
He is the first player in the modern era to record four hits and two home runs in his debut game.
He is of Cuban descent, as his grandparents and mother emigrated from Cuba in the 1960's.
He played basketball and football in high school before pursuing baseball full time.
Despite being a lightning rod of criticism by some fans and media in Toronto, he had a small following of supporters who came to his defense.
