    He was an emcee at Depression-era dance marathons.
    His club, Chez Buckley, was allegedly financed by Al Capone.

    He wore tie and tails with a pith helmet while sporting a Dali-esque mustache.

    He did his routines in hipster slang.
    He and Ed Sullivan became lifelong friends while touring together in the USO during WWII.
