    (July 9, 1929-August 4, 2007)
    Born in Mannford, Oklahoma
Birth name was Barton Lee Hazlewood
Wrote the Nancy Sinatra hits 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin' (1966), 'How Does That Grab You Darlin?' (1966), 'Sugar Town' (1966) and 'Some Velvet Morning' (1968)
Also wrote the songs 'Rebel Rouser' for Duane Eddy (1958), 'Houston' for Dean Martin (1965) and 'I'm a Fool' for Dino, Desi and Billy (1966)
Recorded the albums 'Trouble Is a Lonesome Town' (1963), 'The Very Special World of Lee Hazlewood' (1966), 'Nancy and Lee' (with Nancy Sinatra, 1968), 'The Cowboy and the Lady' (with Ann-Margaret, 1969), 'Requiem for an Almost Lady' (1971), 'Nancy and Lee Again' (1972), 'Gypsies and Indians' (1993), 'Nancy and Lee 3' (2004) and 'Cake or Death' (2006)
He told Nancy Sinatra to sing 'These Boots Are Made for Walking' like 'a 16-year-old girl who fucks truck drivers.'
His album 'Poet, Fool or Bum' (1973) received a one word review in New Music Express: 'Bum.'
When Gram Parsons left Hazlewood's record label to join the Byrds (1968), he threatened to sue if Parson's vocals were used on their new album, forcing the band to re-record 'Sweetheart of the Rodeo.'
At the height of his success, he suddenly moved to Sweden and became increasingly elusive.
Nancy Sinatra said, 'He kept shooting himself in the foot all the time... He was always his own worst enemy.'
He was married three times and divorced twice.
    He smoked heavily.
He saw combat in the Korean War.
The heavy echo on the hits he produced for Duane Eddy influenced Phil Spector's Wall of Sound.
After he became a cult figure with fans such as Sonic Youth, Nick Cave and Beck, he said 'Thank God for kids that love obscure things.'
Much like Warren Zevon, after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer he lasted long enough to record one final album.
Shortly before his death, he observed, 'I've lived a pretty interesting life. Not too much sadness, a lot of happiness, lots of fun. And I didn't do much of anything I didn't want to do.'
