    Her cousin gave her her first reporter job at 12 when he made her the movie editor of his paper.
    She has written a series of books about ghosts in the South which includes a ghost named Jeffery as tour guide, i.e. Jeffery and thirteen Alabama Ghosts, Jeffery and Thirteen Georgia Ghosts, etc..
    After only ten years of marriage, she was suddenly left a widow with three small children, which led her to return to her youthful love of newspaper reporting.
    She was a newspaper reporter in Selma during the sixties, an interesting time and place for reporting.
    She was the first woman to be assigned the police beat for a major Southern paper.
    Her one woman play, about prison reformer Julia Tutwiler, 'My Name is Julia,' is spell-binding.
    She has been for years a tireless advocate for the elderly.
