He suffered a fractured skull and clavicle, along with a brain bleed when he drove headfirst into concrete while attempting to catch a popup foul ball.
He struggled with consistency in the starting rotation, which played a role in the Orioles decision to move him to the bullpen.
Buck Showalter had him sit out a crucial inning in the 2016 AL Wild Card game, which would eventually cost the Orioles the game.
His first name was misspelled 'Zach' for years, before being corrected to 'Zack' prior to his first full season with the Yankees.
