She and her brother were simultaneously in hit shows on Broadway (‘Mister Roberts’ for her, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ for him), after which their careers went on very different trajectories.
She had small parts in two of Marlon’s films (‘The Ugly American’ and ‘The Chase’).
She was married and divorced twice.

She and her brother were members of the first group of students at the Actors Studio.
She was blacklisted for signing a peace petition.
Late in life, she owned a bookstore in Santa Monica, California.
She remained loyal to her brother through the ups and downs of his career and his turbulent private life, and was by his side when he died.
