Why he might be annoying:

He married, divorced and re-married Playboy Playmate Dolly Read (Martin).
He said of his comedy routine with Dan Rowan, 'We had no material, but we had something that no one else had, no talent.'
He claimed part of the reason for ending 'Laugh-In' was a dispute over the show's new time slot.
After failing to reach a new time slot agreement, he and Dan Rowan reportedly told NBC: 'F.U. and see ya.'
He had a ratlike face.

'Laugh-In' was a subversive and influential comedy show.
He directed episodes of many TV shows, including 'The Bob Newhart Show,' 'Archie Bunker's Place,' 'Family Ties,' 'Newhart' and 'Mama's Family.'
He executive produced 'Laugh-In' during it's final season.
He lauded 'Laugh-In's' anti-establishment appeal.
After Dan Rowan died of lymphatic cancer, he became active in raising funds for cancer charities.
He was close friends with Johnny Carson.
