    Formed in Wigan, Lancashire, England
    Richard Ashcroft, vocalist/guitarist
    Nick McCabe, guitarist (1989-1995) (1997-1999)
    Simon Jones, bassist
    Peter Salisbury, drummer
    Simon Tong, guitarist/keyboardist (1995-1999)
Recorded Albums 'A Storm in Heaven,' (1993) 'A Northern Soul' (1995) and 'Urban Hymns' (1997)
Performed and Recorded Songs 'The Drugs Don't Work,' 'Bittersweet Symphony,' 'Sonnet,' 'This Is Music,' 'Lucky Man,' 'History,' 'Slide Away,' 'Blue,' 'Beautiful Mind' and 'New Decade'

Why they might be annoying:

They are considered 'one-hit wonders' with their hit, 'Bittersweet Symphony.'
'Bittersweet Symphony' sampled a stolen orchestra bit from a Rolling Stones song, causing them to be sued and losing publishing rights and royalties of the song.
After losing 100% of the royalties for the song, it was used in a 'Nike' commercial.
On the 1994 Lollapalooza tour, Peter was arrested after trashing a hotel room in Kansas.
The Jazz record label, 'Verve,' sued them, forcing the band's name to change to 'The Verve.'
They admitted that while recording 'A Northern Soul,' they massively abused ecstasy, which most likely led to the disappointing record sales, no media acknowledgement and the relationship problems that were later to come.
The band broke up shortly in 1995 after Richard left, when he tried to reunite the band, Nick refused to come back.
Relationship problems occurred once again when Nick pulled out of the 1998 US tour.
Nick pulling out, forced Richard to take over the main guitar parts, giving them horrible live reviews.

Why they might not be annoying:

Even though they are labelled 'one-hit wonders,' they really had two hits in the US and had much more in the UK, with 'The Drugs Don't Work' and 'Bittersweet Symphony.'
'Bittersweet Symphony' was often called the theme to the summer of 1997 and one of the best songs of that year.
Many music critics said that the band had much potential and capability to do great things and that the breakup was unfortunate.
Although 'A Northern Soul' was called a disaster and disappointment, many loyal fans consider it their best album.
Nick finally accepted the invite to come back into the band (1997).
On many different occasions, Nick was called an amazing and 'mind-blowing' guitarist.
On the 1994 Lollapalooza tour, Richard got severe dehydration and had to be admitted to the hospital.
During their tour supporting their album, Simon collapsed on stage.
Richard has a successful solo career and is still active in music today. The rest of the members have helped in some way, with other bands.
They're one of the most influential bands to the new and upcoming british bands of today.
They are considered one of the main and best bands of the 'britpop battle.'
