Why she might be annoying:

She is a fitness fanatic.
She considers herself a devout Catholic despite disagreeing with the church on homosexuality and women in the priesthood.
Unlike previous Irish presidents, she had not held a government or legislative position.
She caused outrage among Ulster Protestants when, after a ceremony at Auschwitz, she said that Nazis 'gave to their children an irrational fear of Jews, in the same way that people in Northern Ireland transmitted to their children an irrational hatred of Catholics.' (2005)

Why she might not be annoying:

Growing up in Belfast during the Troubles, her home was machine-gunned while the family was at mass.
When she followed Mary Robinson as president, it was the first time a woman had been elected to succeed another woman as head of state anywhere in the world.
As part of her campaign of 'building bridges,' she became the first Irish president to officially celebrate the Protestant 'Orangefest' holiday on July 12.
She apologized for her Auschwitz remarks, saying it had been 'clumsy' to mention only one side in the Northern Ireland conflict.
