Produced the Off-Broadway show 'Dream a Little Dream: The Mamas and the Papas Musical' (2003)

Why he might be annoying:

He first sang in public on a dare at age 15.
His last minute return from a trip to Canada kept the band from rehearsing for the Monterey Pop Festival (1967), leading to a disappointing performance.
He had an affair with Michelle Phillips while he, she, and her husband John were all members of the Mamas and the Papas.
He became a heavy drinker while trying to get over Michelle.
He rejected a marriage proposal from Cass Elliot.
All the messy romantic entanglements contributed to the break-up of the Mamas and the Papas.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the lead male vocalist on the band's hits.
Billboard magazine noted, 'He was often overlooked but it was really his voice that carried the group.'
Collaborator John Dalton said, 'Denny remained a gentleman and he was easy to work with.'
His second marriage to Jeanette Doherty lasted 20 years until her death.
