    Co-founder of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
    She and her husband didn’t go public with her disease until the tabloids were about to expose her illness.
    She could probably pass for Julia Roberts' mother.
    Complications from her pregnancy required her to receive donor blood; unfortunately the blood was contaminated with the HIV virus.
    She unintentionally transmitted the disease to her daughter through her breast milk (1981).
    She also transmitted the disease to her son in-utero (1983).
    Her daughter later died of AIDS in 1988.
    Proceeds from the sales of ’Survivor’ memorabilia (items actually used in the game) fund her namesake organization.
    She was a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
    She was a teacher.
    Her husband was the only member of the family not to contract the virus.
