The Resume

    (1985- )
    Born in Las Vegas, Nevada
    All-female pro wrestling promotion
Founded by promoter and TV producer David McLane
Featured on its own syndicated TV series (December 1985-1990)

Why GLOW - Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling might be annoying:

At the time of its conception, critics wrote off women's pro wrestling as a novelty.
On top of it being pre-choreographed like most other pro wrestling, it also emphasized fanservice of its talent.
Most of its talent originally didn't intend to be pro wrestlers - they were more interested in acting and modeling careers.
In 1988, promoter McLane and most of the original GLOW roster left the promotion due to creative differences with the promotion's broadcasting director Matt Cimber.
The promotion experienced financial hardship in 1990 and was forced to cancel its TV show and keep a low profile for most of the 1990s.
It was split into two simple stables - Face wrestlers were the 'Good Girls' and heels were the 'Bad Girls' (how creative).
Jackie Stallone (Sly's mother) was the manager for the 'Good Girls' faction.
David McLane was depicted in kayfabe as running his promotion inside a pay-phone booth on the Vegas Strip.
Between-match interludes on the TV series featured the wrestlers performing cheesy rap songs and comedy skits.
One such recurring comedy sketch featured a GLOW wrestler in a check-up with gynecologists named 'Dr. Fiel' ('feel') and 'Dr. Grope'.
Many of the gimmicks portrayed by the 80s-era GLOW wrestlers were politically-incorrect stereotypes that would probably be considered offensive today.

Why GLOW - Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling might not be annoying:

It succeeded in introducing televised women's pro wrestling to the mainstream, and helped show that women are just as capable of pro wrestling as their male counterparts.
Lisa Moretti (who wrestled for GLOW as Tina Ferrari) went on to become the popular WWE Diva Ivory.
Stone Cold Steve Austin was a fan.
In 2017 it inspired a Netflix TV series starring Alison Brie, helping revive interest in the promotion and women's pro wrestling in general.
