Celebrity's Relative

The Resume

    (July 18, 1944- )
    Born in Newport, Pennsylvania
    Middle name is Wayne
    Lighting and photography director (television)
    Meghan Markle's father
Married in Doria Ragland in 1979 (divorced in 1987)

Why he might be annoying:

He has been accused of throwing shade at Meghan and Harry on several occasions.
He was caught staging photographs for the paparazzi in return for money which may have led to his being disinvited from walking Meghan down the aisle (but in all fairness his having just had a heart attack probably had a lot to do with it).
He continually did paid interviews after the Royal Wedding, damaging his relationship with his daughter.
He published a letter sent to him by Meghan shortly after her wedding in which she stated that he had broken her heart 'into a million pieces' with his actions (2019).
The publishing of that same letter would later be at the center of Harry and Meghan's lawsuit against the British tabloids.
He called the couple's move to step down from the Royal family 'embarrassing,' calling them 'lost souls' who 'don't know what they're looking for.'
He won $750,000 in the California State Lottery in 1990, but he ultimately spent all the money (he filed for bankruptcy over a debt of $30,000 in 2016).

Why he might not be annoying:

He received a Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award for work on 'Made in Chicago' in 1975.
He was co-recipient of two Daytime Emmy Awards for work on General Hospital.
By all accounts he was a good provider for Meghan and some claimed he even spoiled her.
He encouraged his daughter to 'check your own box' when it came to her bi-racial identity.
His connections in the film and television industry largely enabled Meghan to succeed as an actress.
He was unable to attend his own daughter's wedding because he was recovering from heart surgery.
Prince Harry dissed him by claiming the Royal Family will be the 'family she's never had?' (so much for that).
