Heiress
    (January 29, 1985- )
Heir to Shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis
Daughter of Christina Onassis and granddaughter of Aristotle Onassis
She'll never have to do anything for a living if she chooses not to.
She is the last direct descendant of Aristotle Onassis. This made her eligible for the inheritance after her uncle, who was being groomed to take over, died in a plane crash at age 25.
Her mother overdosed on diet pills while in Argentina, in a mysterious bathtub death at age 37.
The media are already speculating that she is too young to be responsible with her inheritance.
Her grandfather, Aristotle Onassis, married Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis five years after John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated.
She grew up sheltered and surrounded by bodyguards, traveling everywhere in a bullet-proof, armored Mercedes.
When she was 13, she said: 'If I burn the money, there will be no problem. No money, no problem.'
She had to spend her 18th birthday with Swiss authorities at KPMG Fides, a Swiss firm that has overseen the estate since 1999.
She is dating Alvaro de Miranda Neto, a 29-year-old Brazilian show-jumping champion who is rumored by his former wife, with whom he has a three-year-old daughter, to have left them for Athina's riches.
She was her biological father's meal ticket, who gets a large sum of money every year off Christina's estate just for fathering Athina.
She lost her mother, a depressed drug abuser with four failed marriages, when she was just three years old.
She inherited an estimated $2.7 billion in cash, nearly 100 companies, art, jewelry, homes, fleet of ships, shares, a private jet and the Greek Ionian island of Skorpios when she celebrated her 18th birthday (January 29, 2003).
On her 21st birthday, she will inherit another $2 billion as well as take control of the Onassis Foundation.
She grew up in Switzerland with her French father, Thierry Roussel, Swedish step-mother and a step-brother.
She attended school in the canton of Vaud.
She is a talented horse rider and her goal is to compete for Greece in the Athens Olympics (2004).
She is fluent in French, English and Swedish, and enjoys tennis and skiing.
She once told Italian magazine, Oggi that 'I want to forget the name Onassis. It's the cause of all the problems.'
She is related to Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis by marriage.
By fifteen, she spoke French, English and Swedish.
She is an avid horseback rider.
