It stands in the US harbor, requesting the tired and the poor of other countries.
New Jersey keeps fighting New York for its ownership.
It has a spiral staircase inside that can cause vertigo even to the most stable person.
The original color was copper, it weathered and tarnished green and is now painted green.
Her torch was replaced in 1916 and 1986.

Why Statue of Liberty might not be annoying:

It is a landmark, a symbol of pride and another thing that makes New York great!
(Except for when New Jersey claims ownership.
Then it is a symbol of pollution and foul smelling air.)
It was used as a striking conclusion to 'Planet of the Apes.'
Alfred Hitchcock filmed a chase scene for 'Saboteur' in her torch.
