Born in Bloomington, Indiana

Why he might be annoying
He's a lawyer.
He's a judge.
In one ruling (later overturned), he declared it unconstitutional for the Indiana state legislature to mention Jesus in its prayers to open its sessions but could mention Allah.
In another ruling (also overturned, in part on grounds informed consent is standard medical practice), he ruled it unconstitutional to force abortionists to tell women of health risks associated with abortion.
When he was first nominated for the federal bench in 1994, the American Bar Association judged him 'unqualified' for the position.
He was only confirmed by the US Senate by a 59 - 39 vote and had to overcome a filibuster to do so.
He has been a fund raiser for the ACLU and ACORN
Why he might not be annoying
He once (upheld on appeal) sentenced a child pornographer to 100 years in prison.
His personal honesty is unquestioned and has never had any type of bribery or corruption and certainly no sexual scandal attached to his name.
He upheld (overturned on appeal) a law requiring parental consent for underage children to buy violent or sexually explicit video games.
He's reportedly very likable and obviously quite bright.
