Why they might be annoying:

Even though their name is 'Pirates of the Mississippi,' none of the members are from Mississippi.
    They were a one-hit wonder.
After 'Feed Jake' hit golds, they failed to follow up with more hits.
They originated as a studio band, recording for other artists.
After the success of 'Pirates of the Mississippi' and 'Walk the Plank' all their remaining albums were a commercial failure.

Why they might not be annoying:

Some of their songs deal with serious issues.
They stuck to their traditional country roots.
'A Street Man Named Desire' is concerned with homeless and poverty.
