Why she might be annoying:

She didn’t have a neck.
Despite trying to avoid stereotypical roles, she usually portrayed one anyway.
She was 20 years older than John Amos, who played her husband in 'Good Times.'
She took off a season of ‘Good Times’ because she thought the character of J.J. was a poor role model for black children.
She was obese.
She was divorced.

Why she might not be annoying:

She portrayed all of her characters with great dignity.
She gave ‘Good Times’ what little dignity and class it had.
She stood up to the producers at CBS to improve the quality of ‘Good Times’ (even though it didn’t really work).
She graduated Spelman College.
She won an Emmy and several off-Broadway awards.
