Wrestler

The Resume

    (September 21, 1941-February 1, 2010)
    Wrestled for the NWA
Former NWA Heavyweight Champion, NWA Tag Team Champion and holder of several NWA regional titles
Co-owner of the defunct Georgia Championship Wrestling
    Author of ‘Brisco'

Why he might be annoying:

Although his NWA title reign was spent wrestling legends such as Harley Race, Giant Baba, Billy Graham and the Funk brothers, he also spent most of his reign squaring off against some of the more forgettable and less talented names such as Bob Roop, Ox Baker, Paul Jones, Mr. Saito and The Spoiler.
He wrestled in the WWE for a little while, but his gimmick-less and steroid free persona didn't mix well with the image the WWE was marketing at the time.
He wasn't treated like the main event wrestler that he was, for most of his career.
He and his brother, the co-owners of Georgia Championship Wrestling, were one of the many promoters who sold their companies to Vince McMahon during his expansion in the mid-80's.
Vince later shut down the promotion and said he only bought the company to get their TV deal with TBS.

Why he might not be annoying:

He's considered by many to be one of the greatest pure wrestlers of all-time.
He was a master of scientific wrestling and had the ability to make the clumsiest of workers look better than they really were.
He revolutionized the concept of the title chase that would go on to become a staple in wrestling.
Many of his matches with Dory Funk Jr. would last 60 minutes and they were done so well that they brought a new credibility to the NWA title and left even the most skeptical of viewers wondering if wrestling was real.
He and his brother were 20 time tag team champions.
He was an accomplished amateur wrestler, winning the Big East Conference title twice and the NCAA championship four times.
He had a keen eye for talent and was largely responsible for breaking Hulk Hogan into wrestling.
He was named Wrestler of the Year in PWI in 1973.
His match with Dory Funk Jr. won Match of the Year in PWI in 1974.
He was tied with Fred Curry for Most Popular Wrestler of the Year in PWI in 1972.
He's a member of the Wrestling-Observer Hall of Fame.
