The Resume

    (February 22, 1786-March 10, 1845)
    Born in London, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Harriette Dubouchet
    British Regency courtesan
Published ‘Memoirs of Herself and Others’ (1825)

Why she might be annoying:

When she wrote her memoirs, she offered her former clients a chance to be omitted if they paid her money.
The Duke of Wellington famously replied to her offer with ‘Publish, and be damned!’
She was twice successfully sued for libel over statements in her memoirs.

Why she might not be annoying:

More than one of her clients dumped her for one of her younger sisters.
She published her memoirs only after one of her aristocratic lovers reneged on his promise to financially support her in her older age.
Her memoirs were such hot stuff that her publishers had to erect barriers around their offices to keep from being swamped by the crowds when the second installment came out.
She got her revenge on Wellington by describing him as ‘the most uninteresting’ of her lovers.
