He is close friends with George W. Bush, and helped Bush establish his firm Evangelical voting base.
He had weekly meetings with Bush advisors concerning their handling of 'moral' issues.
He believed that one day, the Islamic world will view Bush as a great liberator.
He condemns gay marriage and other 'morality' issues while sporting a huge joker grin on his face.
He was accused of paying a male escort for sex on a monthly basis for three years.
He admitted buying methamphetamines from the male escort, but denied ever using them.

Why he might not be annoying:

He began New Life Church in his basement, and his congregation grew to more than 14,000 people.
He believes global warming is an issue which should be taken seriously by politicians.
Although opposed to gay marriage, he suggested states should have the right to grant civil unions.
After the allegations against him became public, he confessed his indiscretions to church officials and stepped down as leader of the New Life Church.
He graduated Oral Roberts University.
