The Resume

    (July 15, 1962- )
    Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada
Head coach of the Nashville Predators (1998-2014) and the Washington Capitals

Why he might be annoying:

He didn't make his first Stanley Cup Playoff appearance until his sixth season as head coach.
He is virtually unheard of in various hockey circles outside of Western Canada and Tennessee.
His teams frequently had minimal success in the playoffs.
He never played a game in the NHL as a player.
Many hockey pundits overlook his success in Nashville as a result of the city's small market status.

Why he might not be annoying:

He guided the Predators to 28 wins in the franchise's inaugural season, which is the third highest total amongst expansion franchises.
He is the longest serving head coach in the history of the Nashville Predators.
Despite having limited financial resources, he finds innovative ways for his teams to come together.
As of 2012, he is the second longest serving head coach in the NHL, behind Lindy Ruff.
He is heavily involved in his community with various charities relating to disabilities, since his youngest son is afflicted with Down Syndrome.
As a result of his long tenure as the Predators inaugural head coach, he is widely considered the 'Tom Landry of hockey.'
