In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
Based on The Virginia Declaration of Rights written by George Mason
Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence, spoke of the British crown 'depriving us of the benefit of trial by jury.'
It gives the defendant 6 rights
1 - Speedy trial
2 - Impartial jury
3 - Knowledge of the charges including discovery
4 - Ability to cross examine witnesses
5 - Supply their own witnesses
6 - Have legal representation

Why Amendment VI - Trial By Jury might be annoying:

Because of this we are stuck on jury duty.
A jury can be stacked unfairly.
A speedy trial is ambiguous, and can take many months.
It created the public-defenders office at taxpayer expense.
Civilian juries are not always able to grasp the complex issues of a trial.
Judges have the right to overturn or modify jury decisions.

Why Amendment VI - Trial By Jury might not be annoying:

This affords a number of rights to defendants.
A citizen can not be kept in jail indefinitely without a trial.
Citizens charged with a crime can choose either a single judge or a group of citizens to determine their guilt.
Citizens are given the right to use an attorney.
It allows the public to view trials.
The Supreme Court strengthened this amendment by not just allowing the defendant to have an attorney but providing one if the defendant could not afford it (1963).
